About this tour

This session walks Kazimierz, Kraków's historic Jewish quarter, from Szeroka street and its synagogues to the courtyards used in Schindler's List and the square at Plac Nowy. The guide explains what remains from before the war alongside what the neighbourhood has become since. It moves carefully between memory and the district's current life.

The call opens with a sound check, then follows the three stops at an unhurried pace, with time to sit with the history before moving on. Questions come in as the walk goes, and a short list of names and places follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone with a personal or historical interest in Kazimierz, whether or not a visit is planned. It also suits anyone who wants the district's history explained alongside its present.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Krakow before heading out.

  2. Szeroka street 21 min

On Szeroka street, the guide points out the Old Synagogue and, next to it, the Remuh Synagogue, with its historic cemetery visible through the gate, and explains how this street becomes the centre of the Jewish Culture Festival each summer.

  3. Tempel Synagogue and film courtyards 21 min

Outside the Tempel Synagogue, the guide describes its decorated interior, then walks into one of the courtyards used in Schindler's List, pointing out what has changed since the film was made here.

  4. Plac Nowy today 21 min

The walk ends at Plac Nowy, where the guide compares the square's wartime history with what it has become today, a mix of bars, galleries and a round market hall at its centre.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Krakow: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pierogi and Kazimierz, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
