About this tour

This session focuses on Wawel Cathedral and one of its distinctive royal chapels. You see the cathedral's exterior first, then a chapel added later that commemorates a specific king in a noticeably different style. It is a closer look at how the cathedral grew and changed across centuries of royal use.

We start at the cathedral with a short sound check, then move to the chapel for a closer look at its design. I explain the king it commemorates and the stylistic shift as we go, taking questions throughout.

It suits anyone interested in royal history or how a single building can mix architectural styles across centuries. It also pairs well with the Wawel courtyard session for fuller context.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Krakow before heading out.

  2. Cathedral exterior 21 min

The camera opens outside the cathedral, and I explain how it has hosted coronations and royal burials for most of Poland's history as a kingdom.

  3. Royal tomb chapel exterior 21 min

We move to a chapel added onto the cathedral's exterior, and I explain which king it commemorates and why the design departs from the rest of the building.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Krakow: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kielbasa and Old Town (Stare Miasto), worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
