  • Dunes separating sand from the road
  • Lagos' quieter, flatter coastline
  • A contrast to the cliffside coves
  • Space that stays quiet outside summer

About this tour

This session walks Meia Praia, the long straight beach running east of Lagos' old town, a contrast to the cliffs and coves most visitors expect. You see the dune line separating the sand from the road, then the open beach itself stretching further than most first-time visitors assume. It is one of the quieter corners of Lagos, especially away from midsummer.

We start with a sound check at the dune line, then walk out onto the open sand for the second stop, taking questions about tides and the beach's length along the way. I send a short list of what we covered once the session ends.

It suits anyone who pictures Lagos only as cliffs and coves and wants to see its other side, and travellers deciding between beaches before their visit. This session covers the beach and dunes only, not any water activity.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lagos before heading out.

  2. The dune line 21 min

The camera follows the dunes separating Meia Praia from the road behind it, and I explain how this stretch differs from the cliff coves closer to the old town.

  3. The open sand 21 min

We walk out onto the open beach, and I point out how far it stretches compared with the smaller coves most visitors picture when they think of Lagos.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Lagos: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Grilled sardines and Old Town, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
