Praca Infante Dom Henrique, statue and square
Highlights
- A statue overlooking the harbour
- 15th-century voyages, explained plainly
- Arcaded buildings from the trade era
- One square, a focused look
- A starting point for old Lagos
About this tour
This session walks Praca Infante Dom Henrique, the square where a statue of the navigator still looks out toward the harbour. You see the statue up close, then the arcaded buildings bordering the square that once served the trade passing through Lagos. It is a short session focused on one specific corner of the old town rather than a wider circuit.
We start with a sound check facing the statue, then move along the square's edges for the second stop, pausing for questions about the period and the buildings around it. I send a short list of names and dates once the session ends.
It suits anyone curious about Lagos' role in Portugal's age of exploration, and first-time visitors deciding where to start in the old town. This session covers the square itself rather than the wider old town circuit.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
