About this tour

This session traces the planning history behind Flon's transformation from working freight yard to nightlife district. You see where rail sidings once ran through what is now a pedestrian street, and a glimpse inside a converted warehouse still showing its original high ceilings and beams. Noé explains the decisions that shaped the district's current layout.

He moves slowly along the old sidings' route, comparing the district's earlier maps with what stands there now. He answers planning-related questions throughout, treating the district as a case study rather than only a place to visit.

This suits anyone interested in urban planning or industrial history specifically. It works well alongside the more atmospheric evening session for a fuller picture of Flon.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lausanne before heading out.

  2. Former Rail Sidings 21 min

Noé points out where freight rail sidings once ran directly through what is now a pedestrian street lined with bars.

  3. Converted Warehouse Glimpse 21 min

Through an open doorway, the camera catches a converted warehouse's high ceilings and exposed beams, now used as a bar.

Time to ask anything about Lausanne: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Saucisson vaudois and Sous-Gare, worth a slower look.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
