About this tour
This session walks from Augustusplatz into the ornate Mädlerpassage nearby. You see the square framed by the opera house and the Gewandhaus concert hall, both rebuilt after wartime damage on their original footprints. The walk finishes inside the arcade, standing over the bronze figures set into the floor above the old cellar restaurant.
We open with a short sound check on the square before moving into the arcade. I keep the pace easy between the two stops and take questions about the buildings' rebuilding as we go. Afterwards I send a short note on the arcade's shops and the Faust connection.
This suits anyone curious about Leipzig's mix of grand postwar architecture and older commercial arcades. It also works well as a first walk before a longer session elsewhere in the centre.

The camera takes in the square framed by the opera house on one side and the Gewandhaus concert hall on the other, and I explain why both were rebuilt after wartime damage in almost the same spots.

Time to ask anything about Leipzig: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Leipziger Allerlei (mixed vegetables and dumplings) and Plagwitz, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
