Stella's hometown: beer city walk on video
Highlights
- The building behind a famous name
- Old brewhouse lettering, still visible
- Belgian glassware, shape by shape
- A brewing story from street level
- Leuven's beer heritage, explained on camera
About this tour
This session follows Leuven's brewing story from the old De Hoorn brewhouse to the terraces of the Oude Markt. You see the building where the Artois name began, then the glassware and bar culture that grew up around it in the centre of town. It is a short walk with a clear thread from history to habit.
I start with a sound check from the brewhouse corner before the street traffic picks up. We move at an easy pace between the two stops, and I answer questions about Belgian brewing traditions as we go. A short list of the beers and glasses mentioned follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about how a local product became an international name. It also works well combined with a wider city walk earlier in the day.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later
Not included
- Food and drinks shown on camera
- Travel to the city
Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Leuven before heading out.
-
De Hoorn brewery site 21 min
The camera lingers on the old brewhouse facade, and I explain how a small local brewery here grew into the Stella Artois name known well beyond Belgium.
-
Oude Markt terraces 21 min
We move to the cafe terraces nearby, and I point out the different Belgian beer glasses lined up behind the bar, each shaped for its own style.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Leuven: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Witloof gratin and Kessel-Lo, worth a slower look.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
