A cathedral finished a century late

- Translucent marble explained up close
- A landmark younger than it looks
About this tour
This call focuses on Notre-Dame de la Treille, a cathedral begun in the nineteenth century but not finished until 1999. Thomas explains the long gap in construction before walking a short stretch of Vieux Lille to show how the modern facade sits against its much older surroundings. The session is built around that contrast.
Thomas opens outside the cathedral with a short sound check. He walks at an easy pace into the old town, answering questions about the building's history as they come, and sends a short summary afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about a landmark still relatively new despite looking centuries old. It also works well as a short introduction before a longer walk through Vieux Lille.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
