Castle walls above the old harbour
Highlights
- A castle tied to a royal wedding
- Fort, prison, now museum
- Fishing boats beside old stone
- Centuries of shifting uses
- A childhood two streets from the walls
About this tour
This session walks the exterior of Limassol Castle, a building long associated with a royal wedding held here in 1191, before continuing to the harbour beside it. You see the castle's shifting uses across centuries and the working boats that still share its stretch of water. It stays on the public walls and quay throughout.
I walk the walls slowly, explaining each phase of the castle's history in turn, then step to the harbour to show its more everyday side today. Questions come throughout, and I answer from a childhood spent two streets away.
This suits anyone wanting an orientation to Limassol's old town before exploring further. It also works well early in a visit, before the day heats up.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
