About this tour

This session follows a stretch of Piotrkowska Street, one of Europe's longest commercial streets, then turns into the restored Monopolis complex just off it. You see nineteenth-century tenement facades up close, including a doorway monogram most people walk straight past, before the camera moves into the converted distillery buildings. It is a close look at how a single street carries the whole of Lodz's industrial history.

We start with a short sound check on the street itself, then move slowly between the two stops so you can actually see the brickwork and ironwork rather than glimpse it going past. I take questions as we go and point the camera wherever something catches your eye. A short list of the buildings and their history follows by message afterwards.

It suits anyone curious about nineteenth-century industrial architecture rather than a typical old town. It also works well as a first look at Lodz before a longer session in one of the factory districts.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lodz before heading out.

  2. Tenement facades 21 min

The camera moves slowly along a row of nineteenth-century tenements, and I point out a monogram cut into one doorway that still names the family who built it.

  3. Monopolis complex 21 min

Further down, the tour reaches Monopolis, a former vodka distillery now restored as offices and event space, and I explain how much of the original signage survived the conversion.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Lodz: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pierogi and Srodmiescie, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
