About this tour

This session climbs Greenwich Park's hill for one of the city's best river views, passing the old deer enclosure on the way up. It covers the park's history as a royal hunting ground and the deliberate architectural axis connecting the hill to the buildings below. It is a nature and viewpoint session rather than a building-focused one.

We start at the base with the park's history, then climb steadily, pausing for the deer if any are visible. At the top I take time explaining the view and the alignment of buildings below. I close with a note on the clearest months for photographs from this spot.

It suits anyone who wants a strong view alongside a bit of green space. It also pairs well with the observatory session for a fuller picture of the same hill.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of London before heading out.

  2. Hill climb 15 min

The camera follows the path up through the park's old deer enclosure, and I explain how parts of the park have kept fallow deer since the site was a royal hunting ground.

  3. Summit view 15 min

From the top, you see the whole curve of the Thames with the Isle of Dogs skyline beyond it, and I point out which buildings mark the deliberate axis laid out from the observatory below.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about London: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pie and mash and Soho, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
