About this tour

This session moves through the traboules of Vieux Lyon, the hidden passages linking streets and courtyards behind ordinary-looking doorways. You pass from a worn stone entrance on Rue du Boeuf into the quiet Renaissance courtyard of the Longue Traboule. Adèle, who lives in the district, explains the architecture behind the passages rather than the food most tours focus on.

The call opens with a sound check at the first doorway, then moves slowly through the passage as the light changes from street to courtyard. Adèle answers questions directly and leaves time at the end for anything that caught your eye. A short list of the passages covered follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone specifically interested in Renaissance architecture rather than a general old town overview. It also works well for a second look at Vieux Lyon after a first, more general visit.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lyon before heading out.

  2. A traboule entrance on Rue du Boeuf 21 min

The camera passes through an unmarked doorway into a traboule, the street noise dropping away almost instantly. I point out the worn stone steps that mark this as one of the oldest passages still open to the public.

  3. Courtyard of Longue Traboule 21 min

You see the passage open into a quiet Renaissance courtyard, spiral staircases visible on either side. I explain why these connected passages were built in the first place, since it had nothing to do with silk weaving directly.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Lyon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bouchon-style cuisine and Vieux Lyon, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
