Centre Pompidou Málaga, the glass cube on the harbour
Highlights
- A Paris museum's first branch abroad
- Glass panels catching shifting light
- A cube built on a harbour
- Modern architecture beside the port
- A structure best seen from water
About this tour
This session shows Centre Pompidou Málaga from outside, the coloured glass cube on the harbour that became the Paris museum's first branch outside France. You see the structure from across the water before the camera moves in for a closer look at the individual glass panels. The route stays outside throughout, circling the building's most photographed angles.
We begin across the harbour with a quick check of the light on the glass, then move closer for the panel detail, pausing to explain the choice of Málaga as a location. I answer questions about the building's design as we go and send a short note on the branch's history afterward.
This suits anyone interested in contemporary architecture as a contrast to the old town, and travellers who enjoy a modern landmark alongside older ones. It works well paired with a walk along Muelle Uno.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Malaga before heading out.
-
The cube from the water 15 min
The camera looks across the harbour at the coloured glass cube, a branch of the Paris museum opened in the 2010s, and I explain why a French institution chose this particular Spanish harbour for its first branch outside France.
-
The panelled surface up close 15 min
You see the individually coloured glass panels making up the cube's surface up close, and I point out how the colours shift depending on where the sun sits at that hour.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Malaga: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Vino dulce de Málaga and Centro Histórico, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
