Noailles market and a panisse stand
Highlights
- Spice stalls stacked high
- Panisse cut and fried to order
- A market run by the same families for generations
- Noailles, the city's most crowded market
- Street food treated as an everyday snack
About this tour
This session moves through Marché des Capucins in Noailles, one of the most crowded and varied markets in the city, and ends at a stand serving panisse fresh from the fryer. You see spice stalls, stacked vegetables and a street food treated as an everyday snack rather than something formal. It is a session about a working market rather than a single landmark.
We move slowly given how busy the market gets, pausing longest at the panisse stand. Questions come in throughout, and I am happy to point the camera at any stall someone wants a longer look at. A short list of stalls follows the call.
This suits anyone curious about how the city actually shops and eats day to day. It also works well alongside a longer walking session through the surrounding streets.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later
Not included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Marseille before heading out.
-
Marché des Capucins 21 min
The camera moves through the covered market at Noailles, past spice stalls and crates of vegetables stacked higher than most markets in the city. I point out which stalls have been run by the same families for generations.
-
A panisse stand 21 min
At a small stand nearby, you watch panisse cut fresh from a block and fried to order. I explain what it is made from and why it is treated as a street food rather than a restaurant dish.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Marseille: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Panisse and Le Panier, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.
Questions about this tour

Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?
Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
