About this tour

This session walks Mostar's old front line along the Bulevar, past the unfinished Sniper Tower and into Zrinjski park. You see buildings still marked from 1993 and 1994 and end at the Bruce Lee statue, raised as a figure neither side objected to. It looks at a Mostar most walking tours skip.

The guide checks sound at the Bulevar's edge, then walks its length before moving to the tower and the park. You can ask questions about the war, the divisions that remain or the statue's odd role in the city. A short list of the sites and their background follows afterwards.

This suits anyone with an interest in the Yugoslav wars or in cities that remain split after conflict ends. It also suits Mostar visitors who only saw the bridge and want the fuller picture.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Mostar before heading out.

  2. The Bulevar 21 min

The camera moves along the Bulevar, the street that marked the front line through 1993 and 1994. The guide points out buildings still carrying damage and explains which side held which stretch of the road.

  3. The Sniper Tower 21 min

The camera looks up at the Sniper Tower, an unfinished bank building used by snipers during the war and left standing since. The guide explains why the city has not yet decided what to do with it.

  4. Zrinjski park 21 min

In Zrinjski park the camera finds the bronze Bruce Lee statue, raised as a shared figure both sides of the city could agree on. The guide explains how Mostar's schools and politics remain split along the same lines the war drew.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Mostar: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bosnian coffee and Old Town, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Sarajevo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
