About this tour
This session covers Schwabing and the English Garden, from the Eisbach's standing wave to the Chinese Tower and the Monopteros hill, ending under the Siegestor on Leopoldstraße. The camera moves from the surfers in the river to the quieter view from the hill and the busier street at the end. The guide fills in Schwabing's bohemian history along the way, from Thomas Mann's time to today.
The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the park and street stop by stop, with time for questions about anything on screen. A short list of the stops and the park's opening hours follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone who wants Munich's outdoor side rather than another beer hall, whether planning a visit or simply curious from home. It also suits anyone interested in the writers and artists who once called Schwabing home.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Munich before heading out.
-
Eisbach standing wave 21 min
At the Eisbach, a man-made standing wave draws surfers into the current all year round, right in the middle of the English Garden, and the guide explains how the wave was never meant to be there in the first place.
-
Chinese Tower and Monopteros 21 min
Further into the park, the Chinese Tower beer garden sits below a Monopteros hillock, and from the top of the hill the view opens out over the old town's rooftops and towers.
-
Leopoldstraße and Siegestor 21 min
The walk ends on Leopoldstraße beneath the Siegestor arch, and the guide tells stories of the bohemian Schwabing that Thomas Mann and his circle once knew, before it became a shopping street.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Munich: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Weisswurst and Schwabing, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
