About this tour

This session follows Munich's old town food culture from a Weißwurst stall through the Viktualienmarkt to Café Frischhut and the market's own beer garden. The camera stays close to the stalls and counters where these dishes are actually made. The guide explains the small rules around each one, from how Weißwurst is eaten to what makes a good Leberkäs.

The call opens with a short sound check, then moves through the market stall by stall, with time for questions about anything unfamiliar. A short list of the stalls and their specialities goes out by message once the call ends.

This suits anyone curious about Bavarian food beyond the beer halls, whether planning a visit to Munich or simply hungry for a look from home. It also works well around your own breakfast or lunch.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Munich before heading out.

  2. Weißwurst stall 21 min

At a market stall, the guide watches a Weißwurst prepared with sweet mustard and explains the particular way it is meant to be eaten, skin removed rather than bitten through.

  3. Viktualienmarkt stalls 21 min

Inside the Viktualienmarkt, the camera stops at a stall serving Obatzda with fresh Brezn and then at a butcher open since 1907 for a look at how Leberkäs is sliced.

  4. Café Frischhut and beer garden 21 min

At Café Frischhut, the guide watches a Schmalznudel doughnut come straight out of hot fat, then the walk ends in the market's beer garden, where Radi and cheese sit ready at a table with a small beer.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Munich: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Weisswurst and Altstadt, worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
