Théâtre Graslin, an opera house facade
Highlights
- A colonnaded opera house facade
- Muses in stone above the entrance
- A square planned around one building
- 18th-century design, explained plainly
- An elegant quarter built as one project
About this tour
This call is built around the neoclassical opera house at the centre of one of the city's most elegant quarters. You see the colonnaded facade and its statues up close, then step back into the square that frames it. I explain how the theatre and the streets around it were designed as a single project.
We start close on the facade and take questions about the muses above it, then move into the square for a wider view. A short reading note on the theatre's history follows the call.
This suits architecture fans and anyone curious about 18th-century city planning. It also pairs well with a brasserie call in the same square.

Itinerary

Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nantes before heading out.
-
The colonnaded facade 15 min
The camera holds on the row of columns across the front, and I point out the statues above them, each representing a different muse of the arts.
-
Place Graslin 15 min
You look across the square in front of the theatre, and I explain how the whole quarter was planned together with the opera house at its centre.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Nantes: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Petit-beurre biscuit and Île de Nantes, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
