About this tour

This session climbs Castle Hill as the evening light turns warm, from the pine-covered park that replaced an old citadel to the viewpoint at its summit. You see the old town's rooftops, the curve of the bay and the last traces of the fortress that once stood here. It is a short, vertical session built around one view.

We move steadily upward, pausing along the way wherever the old walls are visible. Questions come in throughout, and I am happy to hold the camera on any detail someone wants a longer look at. A short note on the hill's history follows the call.

This suits anyone who wants an overview of the city along with some history behind it. It also works particularly well at the time it is scheduled, as the light changes over the bay.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.

  2. The climb through the park 15 min

The camera follows the path up through the park that now covers the hill, pines and Mediterranean scrub replacing the citadel that once stood here. I point out where the old fortress walls are still visible among the trees.

  3. The viewpoint 15 min

At the top, you get a full turn across the bay, the old town's rooftops and the curve of the Promenade below. I explain why this exact spot was chosen for a citadel centuries before it became a park.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pan bagnat and Vieux Nice, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
