About this tour

This session follows the coastal path over Mont Boron, from a shaded pine forest climb to a viewpoint over Villefranche's deep natural harbour and on past a fort still in military use. You see why this headland stayed wooded while the coast around it developed and why the harbour below is deep enough for large ships. It is a longer, outdoor session built around one stretch of coastline.

We move at walking pace along the path, stopping longer wherever the view or the forest is worth it. Questions come in throughout, since the geology and the history both invite them. A short note on the route follows the call.

This suits anyone who prefers open air and sea views to museums and squares. It also rewards a longer attention span, since the path takes real time to cover properly.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.

  2. The pine forest climb 21 min

The camera follows a shaded path climbing through umbrella pines, the noise of the city fading quickly behind us. I point out how this headland stayed forested while the coast either side of it was built up.

  3. The Villefranche viewpoint 21 min

Further along, you look down on the deep natural harbour at Villefranche, boats anchored in water noticeably darker than the open sea nearby. I explain why this bay is deep enough to anchor large ships close to shore.

  4. The old fort 21 min

The path passes beneath the walls of a nineteenth century fort still used by the military today, closed to visitors but visible from the path. I point out how its position covers the entire approach to the harbour below.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pissaladière and Vieux Nice, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
