The Promenade des Anglais at sunrise
Highlights
- The promenade before the crowds
- Belle Époque hotels explained in order
- The blue chairs, a symbol by accident
- A century of winter visitors
- Nice at its quietest hour
About this tour
This early session walks the Promenade des Anglais before the crowds arrive, from the quiet curve of the bay to the Belle Époque hotel facades behind it. You see the famous blue chairs and learn why wealthy visitors once spent whole winters in this one stretch of coast. It is Nice at its calmest hour, not its busiest.
We start right at the water, then move a short distance along the promenade as the light strengthens. I take questions about the buildings or the history as they come up, and I am happy to zoom in on any facade someone wants a closer look at. A short note on the buildings we passed follows the call.
This suits early risers and anyone who prefers a quiet city over a crowded one. It also pairs well with a later session through Vieux Nice once the streets have properly woken up.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.
-
The empty promenade 21 min
You start on the Promenade des Anglais before the crowds, the long curve of the bay quiet except for a few early runners. I point out how the blue chairs along the walkway became a symbol of the city almost by accident.
-
The Belle Époque facades 21 min
The camera turns inland to the grand hotel facades built for wealthy winter visitors over a century ago. I explain why so many wealthy Europeans chose to spend their winters in Nice rather than further north.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pissaladière and Le Port, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
