About this tour

This session walks the quieter corners of Lagos, from back streets and family shops to a small square with its own story and a stretch of the rebuilt Old Town walls. The guide points out details that get missed by anyone sticking to the main streets. It is a local's version of the old town rather than a landmark checklist.

The call opens with a sound check, then follows the three stops away from the busier streets, with room for honest tips about visiting along the way. A short list of what to look for follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone planning a trip to the Algarve who wants a feel for Lagos beyond its beaches, or anyone who has visited before and wants to see more. It also works for a quiet half hour at home.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lagos before heading out.

  2. Back streets and shops 17 min

The camera turns off the main streets into Lagos's back lanes, and the guide points out family-run shops that have served this part of the old town for generations.

  3. A small square 17 min

In a small square away from the main flow of visitors, the guide tells the story behind its name and points out details on the buildings around it that are easy to miss.

  4. Old Town walls and the marina 17 min

The walk finishes along a stretch of the Old Town walls, largely rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, looking down toward the marina where boat trips leave for the cliffs along the coast.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Lagos: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pastel de nata and Meia Praia, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
