About this tour

This session goes looking for Sarajevo's street art, away from the market stalls of Baščaršija and into the side streets and courtyards where most of it sits. You see murals up close and hear the stories behind a couple of the artists who made them. It is built for spotting art you would otherwise walk past.

The guide starts with a short sound check, then moves from one mural to the next at a relaxed pace, stopping wherever a piece deserves a longer look. You can ask about any artist, technique or building along the way. A short list of streets worth checking yourself follows by message.

This suits anyone planning to explore Sarajevo on foot and wanting a head start on where to look. It also suits people interested in street art generally, wherever they happen to be watching from.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Sarajevo before heading out.

  2. Baščaršija side streets 21 min

The camera turns off the main bazaar lanes into a narrow side street covered in murals, some fresh and some fading. The guide names the artist behind one large piece and explains what prompted it.

  3. A courtyard mural 21 min

In a quiet courtyard off the street the camera finds a mural wrapped around three walls, easy to miss from outside. The guide explains how street art in Sarajevo often responds directly to the building it is painted on.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Sarajevo: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tufahija and Baščaršija, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Sarajevo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
