About this tour

This session walks through Vigeland Park, Frogner's sculpture garden of more than two hundred bronze and granite works by Gustav Vigeland. You see the bridge figures up close, including the Angry Boy, before the camera reaches the central Monolith and its climbing figures. The walk ends at the Wheel of Life, the piece Vigeland placed last in the park's sequence.

Ingrid keeps a steady pace between each group of figures, pausing longest at the Monolith since it takes longest to explain properly. Questions come up naturally as new figures enter the frame, and she answers them as she moves rather than saving them for the end.

This suits anyone curious about sculpture who might not otherwise plan a stop here. It also works well paired with Ingrid's Ekebergparken session for a broader look at public art around the city.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Oslo before heading out.

  2. The bridge figures 17 min

The camera moves slowly along the bridge, where fifty-eight bronze figures show human life at every age, and I point out the Angry Boy, the most photographed figure in the park.

  3. The Monolith 17 min

From the raised plinth you see the central granite column carved from a single block, one hundred and twenty-one intertwined figures climbing toward the top, carved over fourteen years.

  4. The Wheel of Life 17 min

The walk finishes at the bronze wheel beyond the fountain, six figures locked together in a circle, which Vigeland placed last in the park's sequence to close the story.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Oslo: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Brown cheese (brunost) and Frogner, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Oslo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
