About this tour

This session walks Belleville from Rue Dénoyez, repainted on a rolling basis, to the old spring houses on Rue des Cascades and the shops of Boulevard de Belleville. It finishes with the view over Paris from Parc de Belleville. It is a neighbourhood shown through its art, its water history and its shopfronts.

The guide opens with a sound check, then walks street by street, naming painters and explaining what has changed since the last visit. Questions come in live, and a short list of what was covered follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone interested in street art as it changes over time rather than a fixed set of murals. It also suits viewers who want Paris away from its central arrondissements.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Paris before heading out.

  2. Rue Dénoyez 21 min

The camera walks Rue Dénoyez, a street repainted so often that no two visits look the same. The guide, who knows several of the painters, explains how the wall space gets shared out between them.

  3. Rue des Cascades 21 min

Climbing the stairs of Rue des Cascades, the guide points out the old spring houses built into the hillside, once part of the system that supplied Paris with water long before its main aqueducts.

  4. Boulevard de Belleville and the park view 21 min

Along Boulevard de Belleville, the camera passes Chinese and Maghrebi shops that have defined the street for decades. The walk ends at Parc de Belleville, with a view back over the whole of Paris from one of its highest points.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Paris: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Steak frites and Le Marais, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
