About this tour

This session walks the Louvre from outside, tracing its four courtyards to explain what sits behind each facade. Juliette starts at the glass pyramid before moving to the older Cour Carrée and the arcade of the Passage Richelieu. The walk gives a sense of the museum's scale without needing a single ticket.

Juliette opens beside the pyramid with a short sound check. She moves at an unhurried pace between the three courtyards, describing specific paintings and sculptures held behind each facade as questions come in, and sends a short list of what she pointed out once the call ends.

It suits anyone planning their own museum visit and wanting to know where to head first. It also works well for viewers who simply want the building explained without the crowds.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Paris before heading out.

  2. Cour Napoléon 17 min

Standing beside the glass pyramid, the camera takes in the courtyard's scale, and Juliette explains how the 1989 addition sits over the museum's main entrance without touching the older stone around it.

  3. Cour Carrée 17 min

In the Louvre's oldest courtyard, the camera holds on the carved facades from the original royal palace, and Juliette describes the collections housed behind each wing without needing to step inside.

  4. Passage Richelieu 17 min

Walking beneath the arcade linking two wings, Juliette points out which galleries sit directly above, from Northern European painting to French sculpture.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Paris: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Escargot and Montmartre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
