About this tour
This session climbs Montmartre by its steepest route, from the stepped Rue Foyatier beside the funicular to the small vineyard hidden near the top of the hill. Isabelle explains how this single staircase has appeared in countless films. The walk gives a real sense of Montmartre's shape as a hill rather than a flat neighbourhood.
Isabelle starts at the base of the steps with a short sound check. She climbs at an easy pace, pausing for breath and for questions in equal measure, and sends a short note on quieter times to make the same climb afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about Montmartre's geography as much as its history. It also works well as a first stop before exploring the square and basilica above.

The camera climbs the stepped street beside the funicular, and Isabelle points out how this exact staircase appears in more films than almost any other street in the city.

At the top, the camera passes the small vineyard tucked between houses, and Isabelle explains how this patch of vines has survived since the district was its own village.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
