About this tour
This session looks at Iceland's parliament building and the square in front of it, a site that has anchored public political life in Reykjavik for well over a century. You see the stone facade and the open square where major protests have gathered, with the history of both explained from the outside. It stays outdoors, working from the public square.
After a short sound check in the square, I walk the site stop by stop, explaining the building's history and the square's role in more recent events. I answer questions live and send a short note afterwards on Iceland's parliamentary history for anyone who wants to read more.
It suits anyone interested in political history and civic life, and anyone curious about how a small capital handles its public politics.

The camera takes in the parliament building's stone facade from the square, and I explain how it houses one of the oldest continuously running parliamentary traditions in the world.

You see the open square in front of parliament, and I point out how it has been the site of protests and public gatherings through Iceland's modern history.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
