About this tour
This session walks through Reykjavik from its modern harbour to its tallest church. The camera moves from the glass facade of Harpa to the old harbour and its whale-watching boats, past Austurvöllur square and Tjörnin pond, and finishes at Hallgrímskirkja. It covers the sagas and stories tied to each stop along the way.
After a sound check, the walk moves through the city centre in the order above, with the guide taking questions between stops rather than only at the end. A short list of the buildings and their history goes out once the call closes.
This suits anyone planning a first visit to Reykjavik and wanting an overview of its centre before arriving. It also suits anyone who already knows the city and wants a guided version of a walk they have done alone.

- Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 10 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Reykjavik before heading out.
-
Harpa concert hall 21 min
The camera takes in Harpa's glass facade on the harbour, its coloured panels catching the light differently depending on the hour, since the building was designed around exactly that effect.
-
The old harbour 21 min
At the old harbour, the camera follows the whale-watching boats coming and going, and the guide explains what the harbour looked like before tourism became part of its daily traffic.
-
Austurvöllur and Tjörnin 21 min
The camera passes the Parliament house on Austurvöllur square, then reaches Tjörnin pond and the city hall built right at its edge, where locals feed the birds on their way through.
-
Hallgrímskirkja 21 min
The walk ends at Hallgrímskirkja, Iceland's tallest church, and the camera climbs the tower for a final wide view over the city before the call wraps up.
-
Your questions 18 min
Time to ask anything about Reykjavik: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 8 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Skyr and Old Harbour, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
