Quartiere Coppedè's strange, storybook streets
Highlights
- An architect's storybook vision, built whole
- An entrance arch mixing centuries of styles
- A villa decorated like a fairy tale
- A district unlike anywhere else in Rome
- Something completely different from ancient Rome
About this tour
This session walks Quartiere Coppedè, a small district built entirely to one architect's unusual, storybook vision in the early twentieth century. You see the ornate entrance arch and a themed villa covered in fairy-tale decoration. It is a look at a corner of Rome that has almost nothing in common with its ancient centre.
I move slowly through the streets, holding close on decorative detail most visitors have never heard of, and take questions throughout. I send a short note afterwards with more on the architect's vision.
This suits anyone who has already seen ancient and baroque Rome and wants something completely different. It also works well as a short, unusual session at any time of year.

Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
