About this tour

This session moves through the former Dominican convent that now houses the Reichsstadtmuseum, from its quiet cloister to the old council chamber. You see the worn stone floor where nuns once walked, still marked by centuries of footsteps. The route ends at the room holding a large historic wine tankard, the centre of one of the town's best-known legends.

We start in the cloister, where the stone keeps the sound calm for the camera. I move slowly between the two rooms and leave plenty of space for questions about the objects on show. A short list of the pieces we looked at follows by message.

This suits anyone curious about the town's civic history rather than only its buildings. It also works well before or after a walk through the old town itself.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Rothenburg ob der Tauber before heading out.

  2. Convent cloister 21 min

The camera holds on the old cloister of the former Dominican convent, and I point out the worn stone floor where nuns once walked between prayers.

  3. The council chamber and its old tankard 21 min

We move to the room that once served as the imperial city's council chamber, and I show you the large historic wine tankard tied to a well-known local legend about a mayor and a wager.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Rothenburg ob der Tauber: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tauber valley Silvaner wine and Herrngasse, worth a slower look.

  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
