Reindeer on the plate, explained honestly
Highlights
- Reindeer as food, explained honestly
- A herding family's own perspective
- Poronkäristys, traced back to the herd
- Practical work, not a postcard version
- A short, direct conversation
About this tour
This short call is a direct conversation about reindeer as food, coming from a family that has herded them for three generations. I explain how poronkäristys and other dishes actually connect to the herding work I described in my fence line session. This one stays a conversation rather than a walk.
I open with a short account of how the herd connects to what ends up on a plate, then take your questions on the food, the herding or both. The call runs short and direct. I answer plainly rather than softening the practical side of the work.
This suits anyone who watched the reindeer session and wants the food side explained by someone who actually herds them. It also works for viewers simply curious about Lapland's food traditions.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
