My family has kept reindeer on the edge of the city for three generations, so most of what I explain about the herds comes from actual work rather than a guidebook. On camera I show the animals from the fence line and explain how herding actually runs through the seasons, since the picture most people carry is quite far from the daily reality. I studied agriculture and still help with the herd most weekends. I speak plainly about the work itself rather than treating the animals as a backdrop.
