The bell tower modelled on Venice's own
Highlights
- A bell tower deliberately modelled on Venice
- A statue that also works as a weathervane
- Streets laid out to lead the eye uphill
- A hilltop view of the whole old town
- Rovinj's borrowed grandeur, explained plainly
About this tour
This session climbs to the church and bell tower that top Rovinj's old town, looking closely at a tower built to echo one in Venice specifically. You see how the streets below were laid out to draw the eye toward the hill, then the tower itself up close, including the statue that also serves as a weathervane. It stays on this one hilltop throughout.
I climb at a steady pace, pause to let the tower settle clearly on screen, and take questions about either the church or the tower as they come up.
This suits anyone with an interest in how a small town borrowed grand ideas from a larger one nearby. It also works well as a first stop before exploring the streets below.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Rovinj before heading out.
-
Church of St Euphemia 21 min
You see the Baroque church at the top of the hill, and I explain how the whole old town was built to lead the eye upward toward it from almost any street below.
-
The Bell Tower 21 min
The camera reaches the base of the bell tower, and I describe why it was deliberately modelled on Venice's Campanile, right down to the weathervane statue at its top.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Rovinj: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fuži with truffle or game sauce and Old Town, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Zagreb time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
