About this tour
This session covers two buildings on the same hill above Selçuk: the Basilica of St John and the Seljuk-era mosque beside it. You see the standing columns of the basilica and the open courtyard of the mosque within a short walk of each other. Elif explains how both buildings reused stone from earlier structures on the same site.
The call starts at the basilica entrance with a short sound check, then moves to the mosque courtyard as the second stop. Elif takes questions throughout and sends a short note afterwards on the dates and periods covered.
This suits anyone interested in how Byzantine and Seljuk buildings sit side by side on the same hill. It also pairs well with a session on Ayasuluk Fortress just above.

Basilica of St John 21 min
The camera moves through the standing columns of the basilica, and Elif points to the marked spot on the floor plan traditionally identified as the tomb the church was built over.
-
Isa Bey Mosque courtyard 21 min
You see the open courtyard of the 14th-century mosque next door, built partly from stone taken from older ruins nearby, and Elif points out the reused columns inside the prayer hall.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Selcuk: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kabak çiçeği dolması (stuffed courgette flowers) and Central Selçuk, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
