Sighnaghi walls and the path to Bodbe
Highlights
- Sighnaghi's eighteenth-century walls, tower to tower
- Views over the Alazani valley
- The old path down to Bodbe
- The grave of St Nino
- A holy spring below the monastery
About this tour
This walk follows Sighnaghi's eighteenth-century walls out along the old path to Bodbe Monastery. You see the Alazani valley from tower to tower along the walls, the grave of St Nino inside the monastery, and the holy spring on the path below it. It moves from a hilltop fortress town down into the valley it has always looked out over.
The call opens with a sound check on the walls, then follows the path down towards Bodbe at a steady pace, with time to stop at each tower and viewpoint. Questions come along the way, and a short list of the stops and their history follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in Georgian religious history as much as the views themselves. It also suits those who want the walk explained by someone who knows the path well rather than following a map alone.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
