Sliema's rocks, gardens and sea bathing spots
Highlights

- A shaded garden between two swimming spots
- The one sandy patch on this coast
- Currents and footing explained plainly
- An early morning walk along the water
About this tour
This longer session follows the coast from the open rock at Exiles to the sandy patch at Fond Għadir, taking in a shaded garden along the way. You see where locals swim off flat rock, where the coast softens into sand, and the garden that sits between the two. It moves at the pace of an early morning along the water.
I go slowly at each stop since the light and the sea change quickly at this hour, and I take questions about currents, depth or footing at any point along the way.
This suits anyone curious about how locals actually use this coastline rather than the postcard views of it. It also suits early risers who want the water at its calmest.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later
Not included
- Internet connection
- Travel to the city
Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Sliema before heading out.
-
Exiles Rocks 21 min
You see the flat coastal rock where people swim directly off the shore, and I explain which ledges stay calm when the rest of this coast gets choppy from the wind.
-
Independence Garden 21 min
The camera moves to the small seafront garden that has anchored this stretch of coast for a century, a shaded stop between the open rock and the busier promenade.
-
Fond Għadir Bay 21 min
We finish at the shallow bay with its small patch of sand, one of the few soft-bottomed spots on this stretch, and I point out why families favour it over the open rock further north.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Sliema: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Imqaret (date pastries) and Balluta, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
