About this tour

This session takes place in and around a family lemon grove above Sorrento, following the lemons from the pergola to the kitchen. You see the trees covered against frost, gnocchi alla sorrentina and delizia al limone taking shape at the stove, and the small lab where limoncello is made. It finishes on the terrace, looking out over the Gulf of Naples.

After a sound check, the guide walks from grove to kitchen to terrace, explaining each stage and pausing for your questions, then sends the gnocchi and lemon dessert recipes afterwards for anyone who wants to cook them at home.

This suits anyone interested in Amalfi coast cooking, or dreaming of their own lemon grove afternoon.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Sorrento before heading out.

  2. The family lemon grove 21 min

Walking under the chestnut pergolas that shade the trees, the guide explains how these lemons are picked by hand and covered with straw mats each winter to protect them from frost.

  3. The kitchen 21 min

At the stove, the camera follows potato gnocchi being rolled and finished alla sorrentina, with tomato, mozzarella and basil, while the guide explains what makes the local potatoes suited to it.

  4. A lemon dessert in progress 21 min

The guide shows delizia al limone being assembled, a sponge dome soaked in lemon syrup and filled with cream, explaining how the dessert became a Sorrento speciality.

  5. The limoncello lab and terrace 21 min

In a small back room, the camera shows the peels steeping for limoncello, before the guide steps out onto the terrace for a view over the Gulf of Naples where the meal would normally be served.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Sorrento: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Gnocchi alla sorrentina and Centro Storico, worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
