About this tour
This session compares Strasbourg's two very different faces: the tight medieval streets around the cathedral and the wide boulevards of the German-built Neustadt. You start at Place Kléber, move through the old town's narrow lanes, then step into the grand scale of the Neustadt. Thomas explains why the city carries both styles without either one dominating.
After a short sound check on the square, the walk moves at a steady pace between the two districts, pausing longer wherever the contrast is sharpest. Thomas takes live questions throughout and adjusts the route slightly if something catches your interest. A short list of the stops follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in how borders and history shape a city's architecture. It also works well as an introduction before exploring either district in more depth.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Strasbourg before heading out.
-
Place Kléber 21 min
The camera opens on Strasbourg's largest square, framed by 18th-century buildings on every side. I explain who Kléber was and why his statue stands here rather than in his native town.
-
Cathedral quarter 21 min
You see the medieval streets narrow sharply near the cathedral, timber houses leaning close overhead. I point out how the street pattern has barely changed since the Middle Ages.
-
Neustadt boulevard 21 min
The camera crosses into wide, straight boulevards lined with grand stone buildings from the German imperial period. I show how the architecture and scale shift completely within a few streets.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Strasbourg: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Baeckeoffe and Krutenau, worth a slower look.

- Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

Good value
Very good overall. The route was lovely, a little more time at the last stop would have been perfect.
How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
