Clopton Bridge to Cox's Yard at dusk

- A canal basin at dusk
- A timber yard's old loading doors
About this tour
This is a longer walk timed to run into dusk, starting on Clopton Bridge and following the river down to Cox's Yard as the light drops. It covers the bridge's mixed mediaeval and Victorian stonework, the Waterside promenade and the canal basin before ending at the converted timber yard. It is built to show how the town's mood changes as evening comes on.
We start on the bridge with a look at its stonework, then walk the promenade at an easy pace as the light begins to fade. I take questions throughout, since the changing light usually prompts new ones about the buildings we pass. By the time we reach Cox's Yard the evening crowd is usually starting to arrive, and I close there with a short note on the venue's programme.
It suits viewers who enjoy a longer, unhurried walk with a clear sense of place and changing light. It also works well for anyone wanting to see the town's evening side rather than only its daytime sights.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 10 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Stratford-upon-Avon before heading out.
-
Clopton Bridge stonework 21 min
The camera holds on the bridge's arches, and I point out the join where a mediaeval span was widened with Victorian brickwork, a repair most drivers cross without noticing.
-
Waterside promenade 21 min
Walking along the promenade, you see the theatres across the water catching the last light, and I explain how the riverside gardens were laid out in stages over the 20th century.
-
Bancroft Basin at dusk 21 min
At the canal basin the moored boats begin switching on their lights, and I explain how the basin was built as the canal's final stretch into the town.
-
Cox's Yard frontage 21 min
The walk ends at the old timber yard turned riverside venue, and I point out the original loading doors still visible in the converted building's brickwork.
-
Your questions 18 min
Time to ask anything about Stratford-upon-Avon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 8 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fish and chips and Waterside, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
