About this tour

This session walks Rotermann Quarter, pairing a restored 19th-century warehouse with the modern glass extension built onto it. You see the industrial brick that marks the district's original purpose, then the contemporary addition designed to sit alongside it rather than replace it. It is a short architecture-focused walk between old and new.

I check sound at the warehouse facade, then move to the glass extension, pausing at the join between old and new for questions. A short note on the quarter's redevelopment follows by message afterwards.

It suits anyone interested in architecture or urban redevelopment. It also pairs well with a Telliskivi session.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Tallinn before heading out.

  2. Old warehouse facade 15 min

The camera holds on a restored 19th-century warehouse, and I explain what the quarter was originally built to produce.

  3. New glass extension 15 min

You see a modern glass addition built onto an older structure, and I point out how the two styles were designed to sit together.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Tallinn: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Verivorst blood sausage and Old Town (Vanalinn), worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Tallinn time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
