Modiano Market, reopened
Highlights
- A market reopened after restoration
- Traders working across generations
- Spices and cured fish, up close
- An early 20th-century hall, preserved
- Food culture explained by a local family
About this tour
This session walks Modiano Market, recently reopened after a long restoration. You see the covered hall's structure and then the spice and fish stalls, with the families behind several of them explained by someone whose own grandfather traded here. It stays within this one restored market.
I move slowly between stalls, naming produce and answering questions on the spot the way traders here always have. The pace stays relaxed, and I send a short note on the stalls we saw afterward.
This suits anyone curious about the city's food culture and its markets. It also works well paired with the Kapani Market session for a fuller morning among the stalls.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later
Not included
- Food and drinks shown on camera
- Travel to the city

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
