The view from Trigoniou Tower
Highlights
- A wall tower with a full city view
- The gulf and city in one frame
- How Thessaloniki grew uphill
- A vantage point most visitors miss
- A calm evening view over the water
About this tour
This session takes in the view from Trigoniou Tower, part of the upper town's old wall circuit. You see the tower itself and then the whole city and gulf spread out below it, with the growth of Thessaloniki explained from this single vantage point. It stays at this one tower and its view.
I settle the camera once the light is right and talk through the view slowly, since it changes noticeably through the day. Questions about the layout below come up often, and I answer as we look.
This suits anyone who has already walked the lower streets and wants the wider shape of the city explained from above. It also works well as a calm evening session on its own.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Thessaloniki before heading out.
-
Trigoniou Tower Base 21 min
The camera shows the round tower built into the city walls, and I explain how it once formed part of the upper town's fortifications.
-
View over the Gulf 21 min
You see the whole city and the Thermaic Gulf spread out below, and I point out how the layout has grown from the waterfront up toward this hillside.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Thessaloniki: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Souvlaki and Ano Poli, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Athens time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
