Eleni Karagianni

I grew up in Ano Poli, in a house built right against the old Byzantine walls, so climbing to Eptapyrgio was simply part of walking home for me long before I ever guided anyone there. On camera I follow the wall from the lower gates up to the fortress at the top, explaining how each section was rebuilt across different centuries. I studied French at university, which brings a steady stream of questions from that direction. I keep my pace slow through the upper town's narrow lanes, since the steep streets there reward patience rather than speed.
