About this tour

This session covers the Mole Antonelliana, a building begun as a synagogue and now home to the National Cinema Museum. You see the tower's exterior, the glass lift climbing through the spiral galleries inside, and a selection of props and posters from Italian film history. Francesca, who worked at the museum before guiding, explains the building's unusual history as thoroughly as its current use.

She starts outside with the tower's construction history before riding the lift partway up. Inside, she moves slowly along the curved galleries, giving each object its own explanation and taking questions throughout.

This suits anyone interested in either architecture or film history, since the session gives proper weight to both. It works well as a longer, single session covering the building properly.

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Turin before heading out.

  2. Mole Antonelliana Exterior 17 min

Francesca stands below the tower, explaining how a structure begun as a synagogue in the 1860s became one of the tallest buildings in Europe at the time.

  3. Panoramic Lift Ascent 17 min

Riding the glass lift partway up, the camera catches the spiral museum galleries falling away below.

  4. Cinema Museum Gallery 17 min

Inside, she points out props and posters tracing Italian cinema history along the building's curved interior walls.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Turin: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Agnolotti and San Salvario, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
