Turku's harbour, before the ferries

- Ferries that reshaped an old port
- A sailor's account of the docks
- Trade history behind a modern terminal
- Further reading sent after the call
About this tour
This call traces Turku's harbour before it became a ferry terminal, back to a working port trading mostly timber and salt. I draw on years spent on the tall ships that once used these same docks. We do not visit the harbour together, since this session is built as a conversation from what I have learned.
I open with a short account of the harbour's older trade, then take your questions on whatever period interests you most. The call runs as a discussion rather than a fixed script. A short note on further reading follows afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in maritime trade or the history behind a harbour most people only know as a ferry terminal. It also pairs well with the tall ships session.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
