About this tour

This session covers Juliet's House, one of Verona's most visited spots, and is honest about what is legend and what is history. You see the courtyard and its 1930s balcony, added long after any possible real events, then step back onto the street to look at the building's actual history as a medieval merchant's house. It is a short session that separates the story from the stone.

We start with a sound check in the courtyard, since it can be crowded through the day. I move to the street for the second stop and take your questions about the legend or the building's real history as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.

It suits anyone curious about the story behind Verona's best known tourist stop. It also works well paired with a session at the house linked to Romeo nearby.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Verona before heading out.

  2. Juliet's House courtyard 15 min

The camera takes in the medieval courtyard and the balcony added in the 1930s, and I explain honestly how the link to Shakespeare's play is legend rather than documented history.

  3. Via Cappello street 15 min

We step back onto the street outside, and I point out how the building's real history as a merchant's house gets overshadowed by the story built around it.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Verona: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pandoro and Veronetta, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
