Highlights

  • A house named by legend, not proof
  • Medieval details, genuinely old
  • A story built from a family name
  • Verona's quieter literary corner
  • Fact and legend, kept separate

About this tour

This session covers Casa di Romeo, a medieval house linked by tradition rather than proof to Shakespeare's Romeo. You see the facade and hear how the connection likely grew from a family name rather than any real story, then walk the quiet street beside it to look at genuine medieval details that survive regardless. It is a short, honest session on a building known more for its legend than its facts.

We start with a sound check facing the facade, since the street stays fairly quiet. I move along the street for the second stop and take your questions about the legend or the building's real age as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.

It suits anyone who enjoyed the Juliet's House session and wants the other half of the story. It also works well as a quieter, shorter addition to a longer day.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Verona before heading out.

  2. Casa di Romeo exterior 15 min

The camera takes in the medieval facade, and I explain how the building's link to Shakespeare's Romeo was never proven and likely grew from the name of the family that once owned it.

  3. Via Arche Scaligere 15 min

We walk the quiet street beside it, and I point out the genuine medieval details that have survived regardless of the legend attached to the building.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Verona: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tortellini di Valeggio sul Mincio and San Zeno, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
