About this tour

This session is an evening of Lithuanian food and beer, moving from a kitchen making cepelinai and šaltibarščiai to a bar pouring beer from small northern breweries. You see the potato dumplings lifted from the pot, garlic-fried black bread coming off the pan, and hear stories of farm life tied to each dish. The route covers three stops rather than a full walk through the city.

After the sound check, the guide moves kitchen to bar to counter, pausing at each stop for your questions about the food or the beer. A short list of what was shown is sent once the call ends.

This suits anyone curious about Baltic food and drink, or looking for something different from the usual European kitchens.

Included

  • Live video session with a local guide
  • A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
  • A short list of places and dishes to try later

Not included

  • Food and drinks shown on camera
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Vilnius before heading out.

  2. A Vilnius kitchen 21 min

The camera shows cepelinai, potato dumplings the size of a fist, being lifted from the pot, and in summer a bowl of bright pink šaltibarščiai set out to cool.

  3. A craft beer bar 21 min

At the taps, the guide points out beers brought in from small breweries in northern Lithuania, explaining how farmhouse brewing traditions there survived Soviet-era collectivisation.

  4. A bar snack counter 21 min

The last stop shows fried black bread rubbed with garlic coming off the pan, and the guide shares stories of Lithuanian farm life passed down through the family.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Vilnius: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kibinai and Užupis, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Vilnius time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
