The old KGB building, from the street
Highlights
- A Soviet-era security headquarters, from outside
- Memorial plaques, read name by name
- Twentieth-century history, told plainly
- A sober counterpart to old town charm
- A short, respectful session
About this tour
This session stands outside a building that served as a security headquarters during the Soviet period and reads the memorial plaques set into its outer wall. You see the plain stone facade from the street, then the names commemorated along its wall. It is a sober, short session told entirely from outside the building.
I check sound at a respectful distance from the entrance, then move along the wall reading names and taking questions as they come. A short note on the building's later use follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in twentieth-century history. It also works well as a serious counterpart to a lighter old town session.

Good to know

- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Vilnius time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
